This week's Sweet Melissa Sundays pick, Red Velvet Cake, was chosen by Rosy of Rosy Lips and Lavender.
This was also one of my picks, but I ended up picking something else! I loved this choice because I wanted to experiment the red. I know that tradition is red, but why always stick with tradition? I decided to take some of the batter and dye it blue. Remember my family was the Blue Shapangs? Well, we were going to take professional looking pictures. So as treats, I made blue velvet cupcakes.
I wish that I had read the P&Q before I made this because the baking soda makes the batter more brown than not. Therefore, if I had substitued it, perhaps, the blue velvet would have been...more blue. Right now, its a blue-brown-weird looking color mixture. Oh well, I topped it all with blue sugar.
With the rest of the batter, I had made red velvet cupcakes. Using of the cupcakes, I decided to make some red velvet cake balls based on the ones that Bakerella makes.
Thank you Rosy for giving me this opportunity to make all these! It's been super fun!
I'll make sure to post my super cool pictures that I'm taking this weekend with my family on my blog. Look out for those and my boyfriends review of everything he got! I'm actually going to visit him this next weekend, so I'll post my adventures there too!
[I did not made the frosting, used store bought! Also, sorry about the pictures, it was late last night when I decided to finally take them!]
