Cinnamon Buns [sms]

Photobucket

This week's SMS, Sticky Buns with Toasted Almonds [I had just made the Cinnamon Bun version], was chosen by Jen of Not Microwave Safe. She's this awesome college student JUST LIKE ME!

Jason Mraz was this Friday. OMG HE WAS SO FREAKIN' AMAZING!

The Beautiful Stage

There were two opening acts for him, and they were pretty good, but I think everyone was just waiting for Jason Mraz! He was so beautiful and sang so nicely! LOVED IT! [btw. I apologize ahead of time for the quality of these pictures. Concert pictures are just so hard to capture!]

First opening act: Robert Francis

Second opening act: Brett Dennen

The most important though! JASON MRAZ!

This is him singing with Brett Dennen. in like the middle of the bleachers area.
Afterwards, he had sang a song with Make Peace Brothers, and one of the brothers while talking about their band, proposed to his girlfriend. It was just so sweet!

Jason was a great distraction from other stuff going on in my life. I guess I've just been super busy with this even that I've been planning for the past couple of months. It's going to be fantastic, if only the stuff will all get done.

Not only that, I guess I've just been super stressed out. I guess I'm not feeling too good about my relationship with my boyfriend right now. Maybe it's just me, but we've been getting into some really petty fights right now. Maybe its just midterm stress, maybe its just neither of us are getting enough sleep. Who knows. This happens a lot it seems. We get into these fights but I forget about them a couple weeks later and everything's okay. I guess being a upperclassman now just puts more stress on me. It's all about getting a job and having a future and I guess this uncertainty with him is kind of weird.

No more about that, I'm sure everything will be fine between the two of us. We have our moments but they always pass.

  2. Your cinnamon buns look fantastic! I love the generous helping of icing.

So jealous that you saw Jason Mraz in concert. I'm still kicking myself for not going when he was in our city a few months ago.

  3. Nina, you did a great job on the buns and I love your swirled cream cheese frosting. Just beautiful!

The concert looked like a total blast and if you are going to be sidetracked...what a great way!

When you get settled in after-college life, you will look back on this time period and be shocked at how you could possibly balance everything, get good grades, pay attention and interact with family and friends, participate in baking and blogging, have a relationship going, and wrap all this in a tight little bow to resemble a normal life. If anything Nina, you should be very proud of yourself.

  4. Thanks for baking Nina, and for the kind words! Your cinnamon buns look amazing, and the concert sounds like so much fun!

As for the boyfriend, when Mike and I started junior year, things got a lot more tense. It can't be helped, at that point you really worry about internships and classes get harder, and significant others often end up taking the brunt of the stress. I don't know exactly what's going on with you two, but if they're really just petty fights and not serious problems, it'll probably pass soon enough, once the stress of midterms and such dies off. Good luck hun!

  7. Your cinnamon buns look delicious Nina! And don't worry about the boyfriend- if its meant to be, things will work out. I think I purposely didn't want a boyfriend in college because it was just too much to handle, but you seem to be able to juggle a lot!

Glad you enjoyed the concert! I had no idea who you were talking about a couple weeks back until I was talking to my husband about it and he reminded me that Jason Mraz sings his favorite song. What a great wife I am!

Don't stress about things too much! Things will fall into place for you.

  11. it will pass. it seems that you are under a lot of stress and i assume that he is as well. when things are hectic and busy, petty fights happen. just try not to dwell and apologize if you're wrong and ask him to do the same if he is. then forgive and forget and let it roll off your back. :) petty things aren't worth holding onto. *hugs*

    your buns look great!!

  16. What beautiful buns you have, Nina! OMG... that cream cheese frosting looks SO luscious and yummy :) Fabulous job!

I'm sorry you're going through a stressful time right now, but I hope everything settles down soon... if there's anything I can do, even if it's just to vent a little or talk, please know I'm here for you!

THANK YOU SO MUCH for baking with Team Oven Loving for the Recovering for Round 13- I was honored and proud to have you as a fellow volunteer, and I hope you consider joining us again during upcoming rounds. I've gotten some great feedback from Lori (my point person at the San Diego hospital) and they are LOVING the delicious treats everyone sent (yourself included). If you have any pictures, don't forget to send them my way!

Hope to hear from you soon. Have a great rest of your week!
